We all seem to have one reason in common for starting a website....to earn money. But there are a few stages to go through first. Like any business ......... it takes time to grow.

The basis of a good website is plenty of content rich pages. I was prepared for the long haul. SBI’s first gift..........the videos! They are great! There was no question I wanted to do a travel.site .........I had been to over 75 countries .........what better way to relive my travels.

Now I had to decide what country and what was my angle or niche going to be? I love my country, I know it really well, and I know that others love to visit. That bit was easy. I would do a website on New Zealand.

Choosing a Suitable Domain Name.

Names were checked as they seemed to fit my theme. I wanted to concentrate on helping people plan their independent holidays.

The domain needed to use a keyword that got plenty of traffic, could tell viewers what my site was about at a glance, and was not already taken! Not too popular, and not too obscure.

New Zealand Holidays was gone ..........Holidays in New Zealand.........was waiting just for me!

Registering Your Domain

How do you earn money from it?This is the question I am asked most as I announce what I am doing as my “retirement fund”. I have opted for Infopreneur and affiliate.

I belong to affiliate programmes for Accommodation, Products of New Zealand, Travel Insurance, Motorhome Hire, with plans for the full range of products so visitors can book their entire holiday right here. I also have adsense advertisements and am about to look at Info links.

Several income streams bringing in small amounts from several different sources will add up, as my traffic grows.

Site Design - Yours of a Template?

Recognising I didn’t have the skills to do my own site design, and wanting to get onto the building and creating, I decided I would find a template from the wonderful Site Build It range provided and make it my own.NOTE: A recent competition will mean a whole new batch of gorgeous templates we can use!

I told myself I could always change it later. Would I change it now? No way! I have had so many emails and compliments on my site...............I would be silly to change it....I may be tempted with the new choices...they-re fabulous!

I have had a several weeks at a time out for travel and holidays............they will be shared in time! I take my camera everywhere. To date, all the photos and all the writing is my own. I am just getting to the stage of inviting others to contribute too.

My second site looks as though it will take off more quickly than my first, with anywhere up to 40 people a day in two months.
