Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets
a day tour or en route to Kanchanaburi

A visit to Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets is a great way of seeing traditional Thai homes and markets......... you can either take a day tour from Bangkok – 105 kilometres away, or stop en route to
Kanchanaburi,
where you should plan to spend at least two days. There is a lot to see and do in this area ...........a major Thailand tourism travel destination.

The canal was first built in 1866 when the King ordered a 32 kilometre canal be built to connect Mae Klong River with the Tacheen River. You can take a ride through the canal on one of the narrow wooden long boats, rubbing bows with those piled high with fruit and vegetables grown locally in the excellent soils near the canal. You can see the whole panorama from the sides of the canal, but the boat ride gives you a very close up experience. The locals use this waterway as a main transport route

There are rows of craft stalls selling anything and everything. If the snacks and light meals are not sufficient there are is a choice of sit down restaurants. A visit to these Floating Markets is a wonderful way to experience traditional Thai life and culture.
